Hi guys!

I'm sorry for having been away for a while... But now I'm back and finally on a regular base! :-)

In the meanwhile Christmas is coming... together with all its celebrations, the Winter season, (hopefully) some snow and long cozy Sunday afternoons to spend in company of a good book.

Already some ideas in terms of books you would like to read or you would like to receive as a Christmas present? Or that you would like to buy as a gift for someone else?

Mi dispiace essere stata via per un po'... Ma finalmente sono tornata e su base continuativa! :-)

Nel frattempo sta arrivando il Natale... con tutti i suoi festeggiamenti, la stagione invernale, (si spera) un po' di neve e dei lunghi confortevoli pomeriggi domenicali da trascorrere in compagnia di un buon libro.

Avete già qualche idea di che cosa vi andrebbe di leggere o di quali libri vi piacerebbe ricevere? Oppure che vorreste comprare come regalo per qualcuno?

Es tut mir Leid länger weg gewesen zu sein... Aber nun bin ich endlich wieder regelmäßig da! :-)

Back again!

Mi rendo conto solo adesso di quanto sia stata lunga la mia assenza… ma sono felice di essere tornata! Le cose da recuperare sono tante, ma conto di farlo con questo post riassuntivo. Voi cosa avete fatto in questi mesi? Aiutatemi a ricostruire che cosa è successo nelle settimane passate e fatemi sapere… :)

I realize only now how long I’ve been away… but I’m happy to be back again! There are so many things to recoup… but I mean to amke up for the lost time with this post. What did you do during these months? Help me to reconstruct what happened in the past weeks and let me know… :)

Ich merke erst jetzt wie lange ich eigentlich fort war… aber ich freue mich wieder da zu sein! Es gibt viel nachzuholen, aber ich hab vor es mit diesem Eintrag zu tun. Gae Aulenti: mito, piazza, doodle

 

Non potevo certo ignorare questo Google Doodle - e non solo perché come sapete mi piacciono molto, ma soprattutto perché è dedicato a Gae Aulenti, a cui è intitolata la piazza del nuovissimo quartiere di Porta Nuova di Milano (Piazza Gae Aulenti)!! Adoro andarci a passeggiare e sedermi lassù nelle serate estive con in mano un bel libro da leggere! Non vedo l'ora che sia del tutto ultimata e non posso che invitarvi tutti a visitarla: noterete subito che vi si respira design, arte, innovazione e tecnologia, ma anche romanticismo, fascino e un pizzico di mistero. :)

I couldn't ignore this Google Doodle - not only because I really like them as you all know, but especially because it's dedicated to Gae Aulenti. Did you know that the main square of the new Porta Nuova district in Milan has been named after her (Piazza Gae Aulenti)?! I love to go up there for a walk and to read a nice book on a Summer evening and I can't wait for it to be completely finished. I really advise you to go there and have a look, enjoying everything, from design, art, innovation and technology to romance, charme and also a kind of magic. :)

Ich konnte dieses Google Doodle wirklich nicht ignorieren - und nicht nur weil ich sie sowieso alle mag, sondern weil dieses der berühmten italienischen Architecktin Gae Aulenti gewidmet ist. Wusstet ihr, dass der Platz im neuen Porta Nuova Viertel in Mailand nach ihr genannt worden ist (Piazza Gae Aulenti)?! Ich liebe es dort spazieren zu gehen, oder an einem netten Sommerabend einen Roman zu lesen. Ich freue mich schon darauf, dass er bald fertig eingerichtet sein wird und kann euch nur raten dorthin zu gehen und euch den Mix von Design, Kunst, Technik, Innovation und Romantik, Charme und Zauber zu geniessen. :)

Oz the great and powerful

Ieri sono andata a vedere Il grande e potente Oz (Disney) al cinema. Devo dire che mi è piaciuto molto, trovo che James Franco abbia davvero interpretato alla grande il ruolo di un mago di Oz tombeur des femmes e dall'ego smisurato. C'è solo un aspetto della trama (magari banale e scontato secondo voi) che mi ha lasciata un attimo perplessa... ma aspetto un po' a dirvelo, altrimenti rischio di rovinarvi la visione del film, qualora aveste in programma di andare a vederlo! Magari indovinerete di che cosa si tratta! :-) Vi consiglio caldamente di non perdervelo e fatemi sapere cosa ne pensate!

I went to the movies yesterday and watched Oz the great and powerful (Disney). I must say, I really liked it and think James Franco was absolutely impressive in the role of a self-centered and tombeur des femmes Oz wizard. However, one aspect of the plot didn't convince me 100% (probably a very banaland obvious one), but I'm not going to tell you about it now, since I'd probably reveal too much in advance if you haven't watched the movie already! Maybe you're going to find out what it is about! :-) In any case, I advise you to watch it and of course tell me what you think about it! 

Gestern hab ich Die fantastische Welt von Oz (Disney) im Kino gesehen. Er hat mir wirklich gut gefallen und halte James Franco für die Rolle des egozentrischen Tombeur des Femmes-Zauberer Oz sehr geeignet. Es gibt nur einen Aspekt der Handlung (der euch vielleicht ziemlich banal und offensichtlich scheinen wird), der mich etwas verblüfft hat... aber bis jetzt verrate ich ihn euch nicht, sonst ruiniere ich euch am Ende noch den Film! Aber vielleucht werdet ihr erraten worum es geht! :-) Jedenfalls halte ich ihn für sehr empfehlenswert und bin gespannt eure Meinung zu wissen! 

Favorite movies

Ho ricevuto delle mail nei giorni scorsi, in cui alcuni di voi mi chiedevano di ripostare qualcosa su film e cinema: eccovi accontentati con la top "sixteen" (non ho proprio potuto potare oltre, fino ad una "fifteen"!) dei miei film preferiti (di qualcuno vi avevo già parlato ad esempio QUI e QUI)! Sono molto diversi tra loro, ma ognuno mi ha rapito a modo suo. A voi quali piacciono? Vi auguro una buona giornata!

A few days a go I got mails from some of you, asking me to post something about movies and cinema again: here you are, I share with you the top "sixteen" (I didn't make it to a "fifteen"!) of my favorite movies (I already told you about some of them HERE and HERE)! They are very different from each other, but each of them captured me in its own way. Which ones do you like? I wish you a nice day!

Vor einigen Tagen haben mir einige von euch Mails geschickt, in denen ich gefragt wurde, doch mal wieder etwas über Filme und Kino zu posten: Wunsch erfüllt, unten gibt es die Top "Sixteen" (ich hab es bis zu einer "Fifteen" nicht geschafft!) meiner Lieblingsfilme (über einige hatte ich z. B. schon HIER und HIER etwas geschrieben)! Sie sind z. T. sehr unterschiedlich, aber jeder hat mich auf seine Art gefesselt. Welche Filme gefallen euch? Ich wünsche euch einen schönen Tag!

Charlotte vs Emily Brontë

Desidero dedicare il primo post del 2013 (anno che mi auguro si riveli essere magnifico per tutti voi!) ad un tema che mi sta particolarmente a cuore e di cui volevo scrivere già da diverso tempo. Ormai i miei gusti letterari li conoscete e sapete che il ‘700-‘800 inglese mi va particolarmente a genio. J Ho parlato svariate volte di Jane Austen (cliccate QUI e QUI per leggere miei precedenti post che la riguardano), ma ci sono anche altre figure che apprezzo moltissimo, quali Charlotte ed Emily Brontë. Le due sorelle inglesi (assieme ad Anne, la terza) hanno sicuramente lasciato il segno nella letteratura ed i loro rispettivi romanzi più famosi “Jane Eyre” e “Cime tempestose” sono conosciuti direi da chiunque (chi non li ha letti, ha visto almeno il film; chi non ha visto il film ne ha sentito comunque parlare; e di solito chi non ne vuole sentire parlare, ha una fidanzata/moglie/figlia appassionata che ne parla di continuo J). Ma la questione che spesso ci si pone è: Charlotte o Emily? Se la critica pare aver deciso, pendendo a favore di Emily (definendo la sua opera un “capolavoro” e attribuendo a quella della sorella solamente l’etichetta di “classico”), tra i lettori il verdetto non sembra essere così unanime. Non ho intenzione di scatenare una competizione inappropriata tra le due sorelle (penso sarebbero le prime a non gradirla), ma sono curiosa di conoscere le vostre preferenze a riguardo. Posto che entrambi i romanzi rientrano tra le mie letture preferite, io personalmente mi permetto di votare per Charlotte. Trovo Jane Eyre infatti un personaggio fantastico e non solo perché si tratta di una figura fuori dagli schemi per il proprio tempo (ammettendo liberamente di amare un uomo sposato in un’epoca, quella vittoriana, in cui la donna era ritenuta essere sostanzialmente paria ad uno scolapasta come sentimenti e desideri). Il principale motivo per cui mi piace è perché Charlotte ha dovuto romanzare la sua autobiografia per renderla appetibile al pubblico e agli editori (il primo tentativo di raccontare il suo stesso amore per un uomo impegnato ne “Il Professore” venne inizialmente respinto), compiendo quindi uno sforzo in più, mettendo insieme le parti della sua vita sia reale, sia immaginata per raccontare se stessa al mondo. Non riesco ad immaginare lavoro più duro di questo, ma allo stesso tempo più affascinante.

I’d like to dedicate my first post of 2013 (I really wish you all the best for the new year!) to a topic which is very important to me and it’s now a long time I wanted to talk about it. You already know my taste in terms of literature and will have noticed that I particularly enjoy everything dealing with 18^th and 19^th century English literature. J I have written several times about Jane Austen (click HERE and HERE to read some of my previous posts about her), but there are also other authors I love, like Charlotte and Emily Brontë. The two English sisters (together with Anne, the third one) and their most famous novels, Charlotte’s “Jane Eyre” and Emily’s “Wuthering Heights” are well known by everyone (those who did not read them, have watched the movies, those who didn’t watch the movies have at least heard something about them, and those who don’t want to hear anything about them, usually have a girlfriend/wife/daughter who is mad about them J). But the question is: Charlotte or Emily? If the critics seem to have chosen Emily (defining her novel a “masterpiece” and the one of the sister nothing more than a “classic”), the readers’ judgment is not that unanimous. I definitely don’t want to start a bloody competition between the two sisters (I’m pretty sure they’d be the first ones to dislike it), but I’m curious to know your opinion about it. Both novels belong to my favorites, but I would probably vote for Charlotte. In my opinion Jane Eyre is a wonderful character and not only because of her innovativeness (since she admits openly to be in love with a married man -  and in those days, in the Victorian Age, women were considered to have almost the same feelings and desires of a colander). The main reason why I like her so much is that Charlotte had to novelize her life in order to get accepted by readers and editors (her first attempt to describe her own love to a married man in “The Professor” was refused at first), she had to make a greater effort, putting together both her real and her imagined life to talk about herself to the world. I can’t imagine a harder job, but at the same time a more fascinating one.

Meinen ersten Eintrag des Jahres 2013 (ich hoffe, dass dieses Jahr für euch alle wundervoll sein mag!) widme ich einem Thema, das mir sehr zu Herzen liegt und über das ich schon seit einiger Zeit sprechen möchte. Inzwischen kennt ihr schon meinen literarischen Geschmack und wisst, dass ich für die englische Literatur des 18. und 19. Jahrhunderts eine besondere Vorliebe habe. J Ich habe schon des Öfteren über Jane Austen gesprochen (klickt HIER und HIER wenn ihr einige meiner älteren Posts darüber lesen möchtet), mag aber auch andere Autoren der Zeit sehr gerne, wie zum Beispiel Charlotte und Emily Brontë. Die zwei englischen Schwestern (zusammen mit Anne, der dritten) und ihre berühmtesten Romane, Charlottes „Jane Eyre“ und Emilys „Sturmhöhe“ sind allen bekannt (wer sie nicht gelesen hat, hat zumindest den Film gesehen, wer nicht den Film gesehen hat, hat zumindest von ihnen gehört, und wer von ihnen nicht hören will, hat garantiert eine Freundin/Frau/Tochter, die danach verrückt ist und ständig davon spricht J). Die Frage ist jedoch: Charlotte oder Emily? Wenn sich die Kritiker scheinbar für Emily entschieden haben (ihr Roman wird als „Meisterwerk“ bezeichnet, während der ihrer Schwester nicht mehr als ein „Klassiker“ definiert wird), ist die Stellungnahme der Leser nicht so offensichtlich. Ich möchte keinen blutigen Wettkampf zwischen den beiden Schwestern beginnen (sie wären die ersten so etwas nicht zu wollen), bin jedoch neugierig eure Meinung zu wissen. Beide Romane gehören zu meinen Lieblingslektüren, aber persönlich würde ich mich für Charlotte entscheiden. Meiner Meinung nach ist Jane Eyre ein toller Charakter und nicht nur weil er für seine Zeit absolut innovativ ist (damals, im Victorian Age, wurden den Frauen etwa die gleichen Gefühle und Sehnsüchte eines Kochsiebes zugeschrieben und Jane gibt offen zu in einen verheirateten Mann verliebt zu sein). Der Hauptgrund weswegen ich sie so sehr mag, ist, dass Charlotte Brontë ihr Leben zu einem Roman bearbeiten musste, um es ihren Lesern und Herausgebern gefällig zu machen (ihr erster Versuch ihre eigene Liebe zu einem bereits verheirateten Mann zu erzählen im Roman „Der Professor“ scheiterte anfangs nämlich), eine härtere Anstrengung wurde von ihr verlangt und sie musste ihr echtes und ihr imaginäres Leben verknüpfen um sich selbst der Welt zu offenbaren. Ich kann mir kaum eine schwierigere und herausfordernde Arbeit vorstellen, jedoch aber auch keine so faszinierende.

L’anno volge ormai quasi al termine e molti di noi non pensano già più a quei pochi giorni rimanenti del 2012, ma sono già concentrati su quelli che verranno nel 2013. Das Jahr neigt dem Ende zu und viele von uns denken schon nicht mehr an diese letzten 2012-Tage, sondern sind schon auf die des kommenden Jahres konzentriert. Diese letzten Stunden können jedoch sehr nützlich sein, um uns ein kleines Selbstgeschenk zu kaufen, das uns 2013 immer begleiten kann und uns an das vergangene Jahr erinnert (das Beste ist daher wohl etwas, das uns an alle positiven Ereignisse dieses Jahres erinnert). The Nutcracker

Ormai sapete che ho una predilezione per i Google Doodle ed in particolar modo per quelli letterari. Non potevo quindi lasciar passare inosservato quello odierno, dedicato ai 120 anni dalla prima del famosissimo balletto “Lo Schiaccianoci” sulle musiche del compositore russo del romanticismo Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. La storia, basata sul racconto dell’autore tedesco E.T.A Hoffmann (Lo schiaccianoci e il re dei topi, 1816), racchiude un misto di spirito di battaglia, sentimenti di amore sincero e atmosfera natalizia: nulla di più adatto in questo momento dell’anno! Lo Schiaccianoci può anche essere utile come fonte d’ispirazione per un originale regalo di Natale: DVD del balletto, il racconto di Hoffmann, oppure la statuetta in legno del protagonista. Cosa ne pensate? J

You already know that I definitely love Google Doodles and especially literary ones. Hence I couldn’t overlook today’s one, which is dedicated to the 120^th anniversary of the famous ballet “TheNutcracker”, based on a story by the German author E.T.A. Hoffmann (The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, 1816), with a score by the Russian Romantic composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The battle spirit, the feelings of true love and the Christmas mood of the story are perfect for this moment of the year! And the Nutcracker can also be very inspiring for nice Christmas presents: a DVD of the ballet, Hoffmann’s story or the main character’s wooden doll. What do you think? J

Ihr werdet wohl gemerkt haben, dass ich eine absolute Vorliebe für die Google Doodles habe, besonders für die literarischen, und konnte mir daher den heutigen keinesfalls entgehen lassen! Er ist der Erstaufführung (vor 120 Jahren) des berühmten Balletts „Der Nussknacker“ gewidmet, deren Handlung auf eine Geschichte des deutschen Autors E.T.A. Hoffmann (Nussknacker und Mausekönig, 1816) zurückgeht und vom russischen Komponisten der Romantik Pjotr Iljitsch Tschaikowski vertont wurde. Das Kämpferische, die Bedeutung der wahren Liebe und die Weihnachtsstimmung der Geschichte sind wirklich sehr geeignet für diesen Moment des Jahres! Der Nussknacker kann auch sehr nützlich sein um auf schöne Geschenkideen zu kommen: Die DVD des Balletts, Hoffmanns Geschichte oder die Holzpuppe der Hauptfigur. Was haltet ihr davon? J

Symbolic objects

Le giornate fredde sembrano essere arrivate davvero questa volta e per tutti noi hanno accezioni diverse: a qualcuno piacciono per la possibilità di sfoggiare cappotti all’ultimo grido, per poter praticare sport sulla neve o per stare rintanati in casa a leggere un bel libro - qualcun altro, invece, non vede l’ora che trascorrano veloci e le riempie guardando le foto dell’estate, pianificando le prossime vacanze al caldo o documentandosi sulle tendenze della prossima collezione primavera-estate. In ogni caso per tutti noi queste giornate fredde, però, hanno un significato.

The cold days seem to have arrived for real this time and to all of us they have different acceptations: some people like them because of the possibility to show the latest trendy coats, to practice winter sports or to stay at home and read a good book - some others cannot wait for them to end and in the meanwhile they watch their summer pictures, plan their next holidays in a warm place or gather information about the next spring-summer collection’s trends. In any case, these cold days have a meaning for us.

Die kalten Tage scheinen nun wirklich gekommen zu sein und sie haben für uns alle eine unterschiedliche Bedeutung: Einige Leute mögen sie weil sie ihnen die Möglichkeit geben, in modischen Mänteln herumzuschwirren, Wintersportarten ihre Zeit zu widmen oder ein schönes Buch zu Hause im Warmen zu lesen - andere, hingegen, können es kaum erwarten, dass sie wieder vorbei sind und schauen sich inzwischen die Fotos des vergangenen Sommers an, planen den nächsten Urlaub in einem warmen Land oder informieren sich über die Trends der nächsten Frühjahr-Sommer Kollektion. Aber in all diesen Fällen haben diese kalten Tage eine Bedeutung für uns.

Servicescape: Abercrombie & Fitch

Abercrombie& Fitch arriva anche a Monaco di Baviera, un’ottima notizia per le fan tedesche del brand e dello stile proposto dal colosso americano! Ricordo quando Abercrombie ha aperto (mi pare tre anni fa) a Milano: il giorno dell’inaugurazione faceva un freddo cane e pioveva, ma ci sarà stata una fila lunga un chilometro fuori dal negozio! Nonostante certe pecche (i modelli a parte “hi what’s up?” in inglese non sanno dire molto altro, non si vede niente, i prezzi soprattutto delle magliette sono altini rispetto alla qualità), a me personalmente il look di A&F piace e da un punto di vista di marketing trovo molto interessante l’ambiente dei loro negozi, con il buio, la musica, il profumo,… infatti Abercrombie è stato spessissimo oggetto di studio in letteratura e anche nelle aule universitarie viene menzionato spesso. Date un’occhiata in internet, e troverete studi interessantissimi che spaziano dal marketing alla psicologia! Non è specificamente su A&F, ma vi consiglio caldamente di leggere l’articolo di M.J. Bitner sul servicescape, per capire come gli “atmospherics” di un negozio impattino sull’esperienza del cliente. E a voi Abercrombie piace? Cosa ne pensate? Fatemelo sapere, come sempre! 

PS. Piccola dritta per ragazze taglia XS/S: la S/M dei top Abercrombie kids va benissimo in alternativa, costa meno e spesso la qualità è superiore! J

Abercrombie and Fitch comes to Munich, a great news for the German fans of the brand and of the large American company’s style! I remember when Abercrombie opened in Milan (I think it was three years ago): the opening day it was raining and it was terribly cold, but anyway there was a kilometer long line outside the store! Despite of some negative aspects (a part from “hi, what’s up?” the models are not able to say much more in English, you don’t see anything, the prices, especially those of the t-shirts are quite high compared to the quality,…), I have to say I like A&F’s look and from a marketing point of view I’m really interested in the servicescape, the store environment with darkness, loud music, perfume,… in fact Abercrombie has been often studied in literature and also in universities classes it is often presented. You can have a look on the web, you will find very interesting researches, from marketing to psychology! It is not about A&F, but I strongly recommend you to read M.J. Bitner’s article about servicescape, to get an idea of how a store’s atmospherics have an impact on the customer’s experience. And do you like Abercrombie? What do you think about it? Let me know, as usual! PS. Little hint for girls wearing XS/S: Abercrombies’ kids S/M tops fit perfectly and are a great alternative, since they cost less and often the quality is even better! J

Abercrombie and Fitch kommt nach München, eine phantastische Neuigkeit für die deutschen Fans des amerikanischen Megakonzerns! Ich erinnere mich als Abercrombie in Mailand eröffnet wurde (mir scheint, das war vor drei Jahren): Am Tag der Einweihung regnete es und es war furchtbar kalt und trotzdem gab es eine kilometerlange Schlange vor dem Geschäft! Trotz einiger Schwachpunkte (die Models können außer „hi, what’s up?“ nicht viel Weiteres auf Englisch, man sieht so gut wie nichts, die Preise, besonders die der T-Shirts, sind ziemlich hoch wenn man sie mit der Qualität der Produkte verglicht,…) muss ich schon sagen, dass mir A&Fs Looks gefallen und dass mich in einer Marketing Perspektive, das Servicescape, die Stimmung im Shop mit der Dunkelheit, der lauten Musik und dem Parfum usw. sehr interessieren… und eigentlich wurde Abercrombie auch oft unter die Lupe genommen und ist in der Literatur oft studiert worden. Auch in der Uni hört man oft davon sprechen. Wenn ihr im Internet sucht, werdet ihr sehr interessante Recherchen finden, die vom Marketing bis zur Psychologie gehen! Ich empfehle auch M.J. Bitners Artikel über Servicescape zu lesen: Er handelt nicht von A&F, aber er handelt von den „Atmospherics“ und von deren Effekten auf die Erfahrung der Kunden im Geschäft. Gefallt euch Abercrombie? PS. Kleiner Tipp für Mädchen die XS/S tragen: Die S/M Tops von Abercrombie Kids passen hervorragend und sind eine sehr gute Alternative, denn sie kosten weniger und die Qualität ist oft besser! J

Simplicity award!

Non potevo essere più felice quando la mia cara amica Alice (il suo interessantissimo blog è Alice dalla Nascita) ha voluto darmi il "Premio Simplicity", perché il motivo per cui ha voluto assegnarmelo mi ha veramente commosso: ha detto che sono l'immagine della voglia di vivere! Sinceramente, questa è una delle cose migliori e più belle che qualcuno ti possa dire! Quindi, grazie davvero di cuore! J

E adesso le cose da fare:

Essere semplici è una cosa importante: non è essere banali, vuol dire essere capaci di essere noi stessi e di comunicare con gli altri in modo chiaro, franco, ma anche discreto e gentile.

Dunque, siccome ho notato che esattamente 12 blogger hanno lasciato un commento fino ad oggi (3 ottobre) sul mio precedente post "Autumn is here!", desidero premiare tutti loro! J

Un libro è sempre un bel regalo: un toccasana per la mente e per l'anima! :-) A volte può anche essere un'idea carina abbinare dei piccoli pensierini al libro che si vuole regalare. A book is always a great present: it's a pleasure for mind and soul! :-) Sometimes it can also be a nice idea to combine the book-present with some other small gifts. Ein Buch ist immer ein schönes Geschenk: Eine Freude für Geist und Seele! :-) Manchmal kann es auch eine nette Idee sein, zusammen mit dem Buch auch andere Kleinigkeiten zu schenken. London 2012 & British Spirit: let's go!

Eccoci arrivati, dopo una lunga attesa, al giorno della cerimonia di apertura dei Giochi Olimpici 2012 a Londra! Siete un po' emozionati? Io sì! :-) Ho avuto il grande piacere di trovarmi in Cina durante la scorsa Olimpiade tenutasi a Pechino nel 2008 e sono andata a vedere la partita di calcio Argentina-Belgio a Shanghai. E' stata davvero un'esperienza suggestiva che ricordo sempre con immensa gioia. Chissà che cosa ci porteraà Londra 2012? Intanto caliamoci un po' nello spirito British, a cominciare dal Google Doodle...

Here we are, after having to wait for such a long time: today the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London is going to take place! Are you excited? I do! :-) I had the great pleasure to be in China during the past Olympic Games held in Beijing in 2008 and I went to watch the soccer game Argentina-Belgium in Shanghai. It has been an amazing experience and I'm always happy to remember it. Who knows what London 2012 is going to bring? In the meanwhile, let's begin with joining the British spirit, starting from the Google Doodle...

Nun ist es so weit: Heute findet die Eröffnungszeremonie der Olympischen Spiele 2012 in London statt. Seid ihr aufgeregt? Ich ja! :-) Während der letzten Olympiade, die 2008 in Peking stattgefunden hat, habe ich die große Freude gehabt in China zu sein und bin das Fuballspiel Argentinien-Belgien in Shanghai anschauen gegangen. Es war eine einzigartige Erfahrung, an die ich mich immer mit viel Freude erinnere. Wer weiß, was London 2012 bringen wird? Inzwischen können wir uns in den British Spirit eintauchen... los gehts mit dem Google Doodle.

Happy Birthday Amelia Earhart!

Eccomi di nuovo presa dall'odierno Google Doodle dedicato al 115° anniversario della nascita della mitica aviatrice-pioniera americana Amelia Earhart: una donna meravigliosa, leggendaria, visionaria, sognatrice, determinata, ma soprattutto un vero esempio del noto proverbio volere è potere! Vi consiglio caldamente il bellissimo film su di lei, del quale di seguito potete vedere qualche immagine ed il trailer inglese. Buona visione a tutti e se lo avete visto o lo vedrete, fatemi sapere cosa ne pensate!

Here I am again, amazed by today's Google Doodle, dedicated to the 115° anniversary of the great American  aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart: a wonderful, legendary, visionary, determined woman, a dreamer, but first of all a great example of the well known proverb where there is a will, there is a way! I really recommend you to watch the beautiful movie about her. Below you can see some pictures of it and watch the English trailer. Hier bin ich, schon wieder vom neuen Google Doodle gefesselt, der dem 115° Jahrestag der großen Amerikanischen Flugpionierin Amelia Earhart gewidmet ist: Eine wunderbare, legendäre, visionäre, träumerische, selbstsichere Frau, aber besonders ein echtes Beispiel des bekannten Sprichworts wo ein Wille ist, ist auch ein Weg! Ich rate euch sehr dazu, den Film, der über sie gedreht wurde zu sehen. Unten könnt ihr euch einige Bilder davon ansehen und auch den englischsprachigen Trailer anschauen. Ich wünsche euch viel Vergnügen beim Video und, wenn ihr den Film schon gesehen habt, oder ansehen werdet, lasst mich eure Meinung darüber wissen!

Happy Birthday Gustav Klimt!

Oggi in realtà volevo parlare di un'altra cosa... ma entrando su Google sono rimasta folgorata: oggi è il 150° anniversario della nascita del grandissimo pittore viennese (e quindi per metà mio connazionale :-) ) Gustav Klimt! Tra l'altro proprio in questo periodo sono intenta a completare un puzzle Ravensburger da 1000 pezzi  proprio del suo famoso dipinto "Il Bacio" (1907-1908) -  non vedo l'ora di finirlo, incorniciarlo ed appenderlo. Potevo quindi ignorare questo splendido Google Doodle?! :-)

To say the truth, I wanted to talk about something different today, but when I went on Google I was dazzled: today is the 150th anniversary of Gustav Klimt's birthday, the famous Viennese painter (who is also my countrymen for 50% :-) )! Besides, I'm now completing a 1000 pieces Ravensburger puzzle of his well known painting "The kiss" (1907-1908) - I can't wait to finish, frame and hang it up. So, how could I ignore this wonderful Google Doodle? :-)

Heute wollte ich eigentlich über etwas anderes sprechen... aber als ich auf Google gegangen bin, war ich einfach entzückt: Heute ist der 150. Geburtstag des berühmten wiener Malers Gustav Klimt (zur Hälfte also ein Landesmann von mir :-) )! Noch dazu bin ich gerade dabei ein 1000-Stück Ravensburger Puzzle des bekannten Werkes "Der Kuss (1907-1908) zu vervollständigen - ich freue mich schon darauf, dass es bald fertig sein wird und dass ich es einrahmen und aufhängen kann. Konnte ich also diesen wunderbaren Google Doodle ignorieren?! :-)

The devil is in the detail: boookmarks

Quando ci vestiamo prestiamo attenzione agli accessori, giusto? Quando prepariamo una cena ci premuriamo di scegliere gli addobbi giusti per la tavola, no? E quando arrediamo una casa o scegliamo un'auto non siamo forse attentissimi ad interni e rifiniture...? Quindi direi anche la lettura di un bel libro richiede la scelta un bel segnalibro, siete d'accordo?! :-)

Di seguito ve ne propongo alcuni che mi hanno fatto letteralmente impazzire!  :-)

When we dress up we pay attention to the accessories, right? When we prepare a dinner we do our best to choos the right decorations for the table, don't we? And don't we pay a lot of attention to interiors and finishings when we are furnishing a house or choosing a car? So I would say that also a beautiful book requires a beautiful bookmark, do you agree?! :-)

Wenn wir uns anziehen, passen wir immer auf die Details auf, richtig? Wenn wir ein Abendessen vorbereiten suchen wir mit Aufmerksamkeit die Dekorationen für den Esstisch aus... oder nicht? Und wenn wir ein Haus einrichten oder ein Auto kaufen, widmen wir uns etwa nicht mit großem Engagement den Innenaustattungen? Ich würde also sagen, dass auch die Lektüre eines schönen Buches ein schönes Lesezeichen verdient, seid ihr einverstanden?! :-)
